Modified ashtray as ipod holder?
Hi All,
I'm looking for a home to set down my iPod in my 80's and was wondering if anyone has modified their ashtray to perhaps hold an iPod? I know the iPod kind of sites in there but not well.

see, now you are just teasing him. Our 80 doesn't have that kind of real estate.
Sam, I would think about gutting it out and mounting an iphone holder underneath. Something like the item below, and use some black plastic to cover gaps/tidy up.

Just for phone I modified my ashtray, it was rusty anyway. The plan is to have the power and jack come up from the bottom of the ashtray, plug in my iPod then sit it back into the modded ashtray. I'm still working out the kinks.

Sorry I was in a hurry when I posted that and could not comment. The wife was tapping her foot waiting to go to the grocery store :-)
Didn't know your ashtray was smaller on that year.
What are you running the iPod into? I just ask because I will probably move my iPod when I get to the interior so I can reconfigure things and include other stuff like a cup holder or two. The kenwood deck does a good job of controlling the iPod from there and I will probably just bury the iPod somewhere unseen.
I didn't know if you were running an aftermarket deck that did that or what your setup is.
I am not even sure how much I will listen to the stereo but am going to build a decent system just because I think it will be a challenge in these cars.
