I never cared for the lines of the C-2's, in high school. After getting drafted in October 1966, when I came home from Vietnam in 1968, I could not believe what the 1968 Corvettes looked like! They looked like a jet airplane with the wings cut off! Nothing else American looks like them. I have had my 68 coupe for 42 years, now. I bought it used in July, 1972 with 22,000 miles on it.
I lurk in the C3, C6 and C7 forums. I have been very blessed to have a great job that allows us to have one of each in the family. Better half has the C7. I have the C6 and recently purchased a 1969 L46 after a long search and education process.
Each one makes my heart go pitter patter. Corvettes are just the best things since sliced bread (ok - definitely better!). Interesting after having the 2014 and 2012 that I suddenly felt an obsession to get what I find to be the generation with the sexiest danged lines of any corvette ever made.
I drive the C3 for a few hours every weekend. Its some of my happiest moments all week. I end up in a stoplight conversation with strangers during almost every drive. Not only do you get the default Corvette street membership where you wave at every other Corvette driver (sometimes a handful, sometimes few and far between), but you also get instant membership into the old car club - wild waves back and forth with every classic on the road.
But - why the C3? Cause there's nothing else like that feeling behind the wheel...
