But as the season comes to an end it was time to get on the road again. Sunny skies and ~75*F, couldn't resist. The city is just a mess with construction so country back roads it was. The speed limit is typically 80kph (50mph) so a pretty leisurely pace although I must admit I bumped that up in spots. Just trying the kickdown on the TH400 of course . The trees are not turning yet but farmers' crops are late owing to our late spring after a terrible winter. Still the acres and acres of corn and other cash crops are a treat to see. Makes you appreciate the hard work rural people do.
Swung around to a cemetery on the way home where the Wife's Mother and Father are buried. She maintains a small garden around the graves to honour their contributions to her life. BTW, they were a farm family.
The pics were taken there. The old 1974 still humms although I will probably replace the points and condensor before winter storage. Just a habit. I will probably put the hardtop on in three weeks or so although family illnesses have thinned the ranks of people available to help me lift it out of the basement.
My DRLs (daytime running lights) have worked well in 2014 after a control module failure in 2012. I did have a replacement module for 2013 but procrastinated on the installation. It is a wee bit time consuming to get the wiring/soldering done. But last April I bit the bullet.
Thanks fellows. It is really a fun car. And at my age, 195hp is just fine. It's just a cruise-mobile. Thought about a C5 or C6 but I can't let go of history and simplicity.
Hi Paul,
A few leaves on the ground already in those first pictures.
Stay with your 74!
It has a personality, as you also have.
The newer cars are extremely capable and pleasant to drive, but certainly don't turn the heads both young and old that yours does!
Regards,
Alan

Yes, Alan. A few leaves are coming down but the brief summer persists. One of my other hobbies is gardening. I was delighted to see this last week. Their population has dropped considerably but even here in Canada they give it a good try!
Beautiful car, Paul and that is a male monarch! I have an old butterfly collection, and male monarchs have a black scent spot on the hind wing upper side. You can make out the slight bulge in the third black vein from the left. Lou.

Thanks Lou. I am impressed by your knowledge. My undergraduate degree is in biology and I did not know that. But my career took me in another direction. BTW, that is called a butterfly bush. Seems to work!
Great pics! The leaves are already starting to turn up her on the shores of Lake Huron. I spent my day fighting with a rusty exhaust manifold bolt, I won.

I am glad you won! Strangely, when I worked for GM about 10 years ago I ordered and received a full set of those OEM bolts. That was when I had my 1967 327. Never used them. I have other genuine GM fasteners that will never see use.
I use DRLs for safety reasons. The C3 has a very low frontal profile to oncoming traffic and can be hard to see. This is a particular concern on two-lane country roads that I frequent at about 80kph (50mph).
The pic above shows the system using the bright (turn signal) filament of the #1157 bulb. It defaults to a normal turn signal mode when making turns. I have a manual over-ride (LED toggle switch, fused) under the dash if I wish to turn it off.
