LOL!!! Love it! I'm still a Porsche guy and I thought that bunch was nuts about numbers! NCRS judging takes it to a whole other level.
I'm an NCRS guy through and through as are many other long time members here. Not one of us would think about spending $2K on an alternator just for 'the numbers'.

Tell that to the guy who bought my 884 here on the forum! Crazy.

That LT-1 looks pretty good, my wife has a twin.....you should do some maintenance.....I see the fuel line to pump hose isn't a proper molded "S" hose and has screw clamps on it.....look at Dr Rebuild for the proper parts. Your front roll bar (sway bar) bolts are in upside down...the nuts should be on the top side. The NCRS guys will cut it apart....if you want a correct alternator....they aren't cheap but make sure you don't just buy one by the numbers as the case has a finned back where the voltage regulator mounts and this is why a correct one goes for some serious money but, I think $2K is about double what a fully restored alternator is worth. Something is not right about the top radiator hose and radiator tank nipple...unless the hose is installed 3" past the end of the nipple. Looks like someone took a box of Rustoleium semi gloss black and did a quickie restoration of the underside...hopefully not to hide any problems. Mike is correct that the 884 alternator is for a K-66 TI equipped car but they were also on C-60 air conditioned Vettes....be patient they can be found. I would plan on driving and enjoy what you have rather than suffer the nit pickers of the NCRS as " correct " date coded parts can be expensive. I have a not correctly date coded AIR system for around $800 if your interested...all parts but the AIR pump itself are correct for a 70 Vette.
