Did it today. Used Rubber 73 style body mounts. Went pretty smooth. Twice as much room in the garage now. Oh yeah, don't forget to make sure the shifter goes through the shifter hole.

Hi Rick, wow I bet that's a big relief. WAs it very hard? How long did it take.

Thanks Roger, Couple snags. Had to repair two broken off battery cable clamp studs under the tunnel that I didn't foresee. It took me 5 hours but I was so busy that it didn't seem like that long. Had a buddy helping me for part of it. Always nice to have a second pair of eyes watching out for you. Rick
Thanks DG! It's still fun despite the obstacles and I keep telling myself it's getting easier hoping that I might someday believe it. haha. Really though I just want to start driving it but that's still a long time away. Rick
Hi L46,
It looks good settling down on the chassis.
You'll need to wrap the chassis carefully when you paint because the dust and spray work their way into EVERY nook and cranny they have access to.
Good Luck as you continue!
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,
Thanks! I will be sure to mask off the chassis before painting. I got really lucky when I placed 1 shim on every mount and the door gaps look very good. Body mounts aren't tightened yet so that could change but I was pleased that it was so easy. I may raise it again to do some wrapping but I'm off it now for at least two weeks as I have other work that has to be done. Thanks for the pictures, Rick
sometimes all ya need is a set of nylon straps and a come along.again looking good, taking your time, doing it right. Those look like home-made jack stands, with old drum brakes at the bottom, forgive me if i'm wrong, but if they are, they are pretty neat.
Thanks you guys, Yes, old Volkswagen brake drums and a pipe in a pipe.
I wound up using 4 heavy Harbor freight ratchet straps.18$ for four. Feel as though I wasted my money on the vendor's offering. Easy to adjust. Just don't release them with any weight on them. A little dangerous so not recommended..
I actually lifted the body balanced with only one rope from bar to bar. And a light strap added as an afterthought to the nose to keep it supported. Worked for me but also not recommended.

Some more pics. BTW I found the vendor's lift harness less than useful so I didn't use it. Too long. You'd need 14 foot ceiling.
I found that the vendors lift harness was also too long. I solved the problem by creating a loop thru the steel ring that came with the harness and securing the 4 loops with a chain. The chain was used to adjust the length of the loop.
