Progress and lack thereof

The chassis was 68 no braces so I had them added...
Powder coating is overrated
I am excited, I doubt I will be running/driving in time for turkey rod run but perhaps in time for Santa to take a spin....
Sorry for the loss of your Dad Bats. I lost mine 21 years ago this month. As Gordonm says the memories do last forever. Not a day goes by that something doesn't remind me of him. These projects always get side tracked. Life gets in the way for one reason or another. Nice job on the braces. Just keep plugging away.

The step families disposition towards me hasn't made it a bit easier.
But not a pity me party from me trying to get back into car junk,
The rear braces were a gm add in 69 my new 68 chassis didn't have them, so I bought these from Zip,
I also learned that up until 72 I believe these cars had solid body mounts, so I found poly ones for it, not the 73 up thicker ones but ones made for 69, might help tone down a few road rattles,
Next is cutting the manual tranny cross member to make it easier when I am ready to install a 700 or what ever I do there...I have been taking long looks at a gear vender over drive, it makes a 3 speed auto a 6 speed auto...it's not cheap but can be found used for about what a 700 conversion would cost me....

The chassis is for sale, here,
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...r-chassis.html
Here is the build sheet, what's left of it,
I decided to buy a new gas tank and need new body shims but ironically all the body bolts came right out no issues,

Keep up the good work , can't wait to see / hear about more progress .

Engine out!!!
I have a busted tranny mount, but things will start going into the rebuilt chassis here really soon...very excited,
Now I have to go ask a side pipe question...

Since both those guys and about a zillion people got good laffs or just stared like a deer in HIDs I took a pic of hauling the clip which was going to be dropped off at Mikes but that waits until tomorrow,
Trust me, I have hauled far bigger and worse up there.
Tommy is shooting to have the car ready to go at the end of Nov,
I opted for a whole new gas tank "kit" which from Corvettecentral comes with everything expect the filler neck so Tommy took that off the old tank.
I got a handful of nice new body shims from John ( thanks! )
And the hooker side pipe bolts came in the mail but my frame holes do not really line up with the brackets on the side pipes, anyone run into that?
When the car gets home I will mess with the rust on the windshield frame and I'm in the process of finding a new radiator support,
At this point I need the support that fits the Dewitts Radiator I have, that thing is such a work of art I am almost scared to touch it to install it.

When I busted the strut the car sat at least two years all kinds of life issues were going on and I didn't look at it for months at a time even considered selling it...

But I would have taken a beating selling it as a project and never found one I could afford again so thankfully with the wife pushing I got it into the shop, she didn't want me to tackle the frame swap in the driveway, good call Tina,
This time I will keep moving until it's running driving even if I get down and have to hire it wrenched on...hopefully mike will call so I can get that clip off the roof of my wifes xterra....
