Default Oil plug

Anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the oil plug above the oil filter on my 350. I am converting from mech oil pressure gauge to electric and would like to install the sensor there rather than beside the distributor. The plug seems soft to me and everything I have tried does not fit the square hole tightly enough. I stopped before I rounded it off . Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It is a pipe plug, so if you can find on you can try a pipe plug socket instead of a ratchet.
Keep in mind I am not saying Snap on, I just have the part #'s close and easy to find to show you a picture if you want to look at the link.

Pipe plug sockets.

Next is an extractor. This set will work good, but again expensive.
Unlike the normal extractors that are 3" or so long these are very short, harder to break and will work on things like a plug because they are short.

After you get a good fitting socket, you may find an impact wrench is your friend. That's what it took to remove mine.

Could not get that plug out. Took it to my shop of choice and they could not get it out either. Had them install the sensor below the distributor in the original location of the oil gauge line. While it was there had them replace rubber fuel line to carb with steel line. Looks much better. Will test the oil pressure gauge before pulling the gauge panel. Anyway , making progress.

Most of the time those plugs are in there so tight and hard all you can do is drill them out. Once in a while you can get one out, but most of them require a drill.
