Well I got the rivets out (I know I wasn't as close to center as I thought -.-). But, now I can't get the rotor to budge. I already can tell I drilled some of the rotor on accident. So what do I do now? should I try and clean out the holes before try to yank on the rotors again? Also the rotors shouldn't be ruined even though I took a little out of them right?
I would try soaking the around the hub with pb break or some other product. The rotors are probably rusted in place. I have had to use a puller to remove a stuck on rotor before, and i have also had luck with a BFH. If you use a hammer to remove the rotors you will most likely damage them and have to replace them with new.
Not a fun job....I'm assuming your parking brake handle is not pulled up.
I had to put some liquid wrench on mine and let it soak a bit before I could break it loose. Just be patient and keep at it.
Punch the rivets all the way out. Shoot some PB blaster in the cracks, tap it with a big hammer, leverage a heavy long screwdriver in the slotted edge. Usually punching out the rivets will give the rotor a little wiggle.
well the handle is up, however the cable isn't attached to it. So I guess I will just let it soak with pb blaster while I finish installing the cable lol. I would really like to avoid smacking the rotors as much as possible. But, if it comes down to it, I guess I will have to go that route.
I posted on the tech forum too. One side of the parking brake locks came out. is there a way that I can push that in so it isn't causing it to hang up?

If you suspect the brake shoes inside are preventing the rotor from coming off, then adjust the shoes to bring them in.
Make sure you mark the position of the rotor to make sure it goes back in the same spot.
I did. I guess I will let them soak over night. Would it be okay to spray that stuff on the backside of the rotor too? I wasn't sure if there was anything back there that shouldn't get hit by this stuff.
If the above doesn't work, use a big 3 jaw gear puller.
If that doesn't work, get a 2 or 3 foot long 3 inch angle iron, drill two holes to match up two lug nuts, bolt it onto the hub and jack up on the end of the angle iron to get it to rotate and pull with the gear puller.
My parking brake liner swelled up from sitting over the yrs and locked up the rotor. It was the only way I could get it off.
If that doesn't work, call Kidney Foundation and donate the car

Dang!!!! I should have got that puller first! It took 30 seconds on each side! I am glad I took of the left too. As soon as it came off, it was like the parking brake assembly just fell apart.

did this job a few months when resurrecting my '81.
Well after a long weekend I finally got her back on the ground and out for a test drive. That was definitely an intense learning experience. Thank you everyone for the help!
P.S. Even after all that hard work to try to get her ready for inspection this week, the turn signals decided to start acting up. Oh and there is a small chip out of the paint on the fender from me being stupid and complacent after all the work was done, not to happy about that one
