After completing the round of tasks in the first year of ownership, I've been driving my 'Vette since May without incident!
I don't get it; I turn the key, engine comes alive. The stock L48 accelerates, the new exhaust humms, there's no more than 1/4" play in the wheel. The new shocks make roadholding/handling excellent. The brakes are smooth and reliable. Engine temps never more than 190 degrees. Everything functions (A/C needs recharge). The lights flip up and down.
I must be doing something wrong. There really isn't anything to do (at the moment) but enjoy driving.
Now - you can tell me this is only temporary and that I should start greasing up the checkbook. In the meantime, forgive me - I ain't complainin'.
my 72 was the same, first 3yrs only minor things to fix.
then last oct, the cam dropped a lobe, rebuilt engine n back on road april this year.
now the trans has puked it's guts with a major oil leak, think it's the front pump,
either way, it's gotta come out now (this amount on floor 2 days after a drive)
Just stop talking about it... although it's fun to brag. No?
I remember my 77. I drove that baby for 6 months solid without a single issue and then. Bam!
I started drinkin!
Keep driving it the same and keep asking youself all these questions. The min. you have total confidence in that car it won't start in fron of the Circle K.
Corvettes do NOT "Leak oil".....
they simply "mark their territory"!
Not just oil, tranny fluid and coolant too. Less of them leak gas but that might be more of a Darwin thing than a comment on the fuel system being more robust.

Like any other Chevrolet does.
Corvette's have a special place in my heart like most of us do.
But at the end of the day, it's still a mass produced Chevy.
Bean counters monitored those "available at a cheaper supplier" seals just like any other Chevy.
OP: Enjoy it and smile.
My C3 hasn't been started in like a month () and were goin for a stroll after the ribs are done today. Finally!
Yeah.....well.......Relaxxxxxxxxx. and enjoy the ride.....because------
Nothing can out-leak a Harley!
My '73 Bonnie was no piker in the erl-spittin' biz either. It was part of the Triumph 'design philosophy": mill crankcase halves a few hundreds of an inch off kilter, then slap a gasket on to fill the void. Add vibrations, mix with wear. OILA! 30 weight on the floor!

Enjoy it while you can because it will just be a matter of time then you will get a chance to spend a lot of money on it.
