My next project will be getting my brakes back in top shape. I'm thinking of getting this brake kit from VBP (1977-82 Complete SS Sleeved O-Ring Seals w/Power Master Cyl). Has anyone used this kit before or have suggestions on another kit that I should look at instead? Is there anything else I should look to change out while I'm at it?
I recently did my compete brakes w/above parts but also added new rotors.Summit racing has the best prices for drilled and slotted performance rotors. I also had to replace the front crossover line. You only want to do it once!!
Even if you are running a stock setup and if you are not an "all original" freak i would recommend you to replace those rubber hoses for the calipers with braided steel ones.
Are those Delco Moraine castings? If so, that's on par with what I paid going with calipers from Lone Star, Rock Auto for hoses/lines, and local parts shop for the master.
Not all braided lines are dot approved. I install and have dealt with braided lines for years, (aircraft maintenance) good stuff for sure. Just make sure what you get is dot approved.
Drilled and slotted rotors are another uhhhhhh. Do some research, draw your own conclusions. For street use, I'm using original style rotors. VBP does sell good stuff. I have not been disappointed with them.
I do not have a set of flare nut wrenches but I can always get some. Right now I'm just feeling out how much all of this will cost and if I would be able to do everything with a buddy. I'm looking at another few hundred dollars if I get my mechanic to overhaul the brakes.
Ours starting leaking from inactivity sitting in the Uncle's car collection. We had them done with the o-ring upgrade - they turned the rear rotors on the car - saved much heart ache.

I would agree that upgrading to braided hoses is worth consideration on any sportscar, and that they are not all created equally. FWIW, Goodridge have a solid rep at the track and are DOT approved.
