Your 68 only radiator support has the base aluminum SB radiator cushion lower brackets. I think someone added the lower saddle "U" brackets for the larger BB radiator. People are dropping BB motors into their cars every day on this forum. Lou.
Something else I wasn't aware of. It's ok though. It'll be a fun driver. Good thing I didn't pay all that much for it.
I think someone reading some of our posts might think we are criticizing your new find. I hope that's not the case ... I don't think that is the intent of anyone.
The 68 was unique enough. I think all the things pointed out (on a car that was disassembled by someone other than yourself) is helpful for when you have to source or start re-installing new parts.
I took my whole car apart myself and it had a 73 nose on a 69 body. All the crap I had to find for the front bumper and the wiper door was unbelievable. Then there was all the bubba stuff I had to clean up (I'm sure my mods will be seen as bubba by the next guy). But gona make it the way I want and hope to enjoy a painted/finished car some day.....
Again, I think your way ahead of where I was at and its gona be a fun convertible when your finished. Best of luck!
Thanks. I don't feel bad about buying it and all the information I've picked up so far is all good. It's been and will continue to be a huge learning experience. I've ordered an AIM and I'm sure it'll help when I start to reassemble it. Luckily most of the bolts and small pieces are in zip lock bags that have been marked where they belong. One of the first things I'm going to take care of is to fix the steering. The PO installed power steering, but neglected to install a new idler arm. No wonder the front tires go anywhere they want when I try to move it. No big deal. It's an inexpensive and easy repair. I'm sure that I'll have lots of questions so please bear with me.
I found it for you......now you won't have to do a "search".
(Just don't get in a hurry and leave my project in the dust!)
I won't. Mine has a long way to go. I can't figure out why, but the PO cut all the wiring harnesses and the vacuum lines when he pulled the front clip. He did buy a new dash harness which is the most expensive one though.
