ok i have been futzing around with the front bolts on my spare tire bracket on and off for a week. after emptying almost a can of PB blaster they are stubborn. before I get the cut off wheel out is there a special socket sold by anyone to remove these things? I havent found a regular socket to fit well since they only have two flat sides.
or is there a trick I am missing?
I am not keen on getting a torch up in there that close to the gas tank to heat up the bolt.
They're definitely a pain. I ended up having to saw one off and drill it out. A complete pain. Try heating it up with a torch. Ratchet at it. Heat it up. Rachet at it. And repeat.
yeah there are jam nuts on the bottom side. things are soo boogered up that the bolt turns when i wrench on them.
I cant get a wratchet on the bolt as I cant find a socket that will fit the bolt head(its not a hex head). If I could it would come out, trust me i'm a big ole boy. either the car would break in half or the bolt would.
Ive been having to try to grab the head with a pipe wrench and I'm done with those shenanigans.

If the bolt turns when you turn those nuts it should be able to unscrew it using them.
Failing that,
See if you can find a piece of rectangular tubing that will fit over those heads and drop down far enough to clear the carrier bucket. Then you might be able to get a larger adjustable or pipe wrench on the tubing and have a go.
A larger socket with something (slices of steel plate/sheet or even a few washers taped to the insides to make the two sides of the hex smaller to grab the bolts may also work.

I've had to resort the odd time to finding a large enough socket that wits over
