Default Insulation Pics

Well I got the insulation in yesterday. Went pretty good. I did supplement the blanket with some Reflectix. I cracked up the hard tunnel insulation a little forcing it into place but taped it back up with aluminum tape. Then taped all the seams. Appears as if it will work pretty good. Paragon's blanket insulation fit fine but you have to cut and bend it a bit since it's in sheet form and must be wrapped and contoured. Waiting until the body is down before the steel floor shields go in. Here's a pic from yesterday. Rick

Hi Rick,
That looks very neatly/nicely done!
My impression is that the insulation done at St.Louis wasn't nearly that carefully applied!
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan, I mentioned in Roger's thread that there were 19 insulation clips. Apparently randomly placed. The aluminum tape really helped to neaten it up. Rick

Hi Rick, That looks great, I think I will get the same insulation when I am ready. I need to check on how many clips I have. How do you attach the missing ones and are they from Paragon. The donor has the white shields if I can get them off and clean them up, I'll see.
Thanks

Hi Roger, I got the steel clips and the aluminum rivets that hold them from Zip. The rivets are a little long so I just snipped off 1/4" with some dykes. I cut the end off an air hammer chisel and ground a concave hollow in the end of it for riveting. Works really good but you need a partner pushing back on the other end of the rivet with something heavy while you mushroom the end with the air hammer. They wind up looking exactly like the factory did them.

Also the clips are bare steel so they'll rust really quick unless you paint them with something. I'll get pic of the modified air hammer end for you a little later. I bet you get a ton of good parts from your donor car. Rick

I would like to see that air hammer and bit you made, and yes I have a feeling there will be a lot of people looking at the donor. That's a good thing.

Here's a pic Roger. I cut off the chisel end and ground a concave shape into the end. Pics aren't too good but you can kinda see what I mean. Rick
