Hey guys I wonder why is it that some guys says the 74 does not have much value.
I have 74 4 speeds stick shift with dual exaust ,350 SB.
I seen many 75's and up but not many 74's .
but also I have seen some 74's around 20k and some of them for 4k.
Can you help me with that thank you.
That's because we 74 owners know what we have and do not want to sell them. Where I live, 74 was the last year before catalytic converters, so I can put on side exhaust without any legal problems. Also the floor pans will not rust because 74 and down are fiberglass.
I don't have the money to buy a chrome bumper car that has been "price inflated" just because it has chrome. When you are sitting in the car, they all look the same, chrome or no chrome.
I have enough money to work on my car slowly and beef up the engine over time. When I am done, it is worth more to me than anyone else.
Love my '74, four speed car! Also the first year for integrated lap and shoulder seat belts (if I'm not mistaken). Interior is still, very much like the early C3's, as mentioned. Also, no vacuum wiper door to deal with and a real Cowl Induction hood as well. And you don't have to polish any chrome on them either!. Well, maybe the wheels!
PS: Review the sticky at the top, "Ten rules for buying a Corvette" and buy the best condition Corvette you can. A lot of mid C3's have thrashed or incomplete interiors, stay away from these, as the replacement parts, aren't cheap. Beware of a numerous wiring repairs under the dash as well. Many problems and a big job to replace!

Well I love my 74 she looks great she's has a rat gray color with silver stripes from tail to nose and original rally wheels.
I like the fact about no catalytic and dual exaust.
And yes you're right, she's not for sale.

Yeah the chrome bumper cars prices are so inflated.
And no mater we still get so many looks .
I get thumbs up everywhere I go. College kids love my 74.
This is the first year I have actually drove my car around. I have heard a dozen "Cool car", "Nice car", "Sick ride", I even got a thumbs up from a high school girl who couldn't have been more that 13.
My kids make a joke about all the 'head spinners' we see. The ones who take a second look as we drive by.
No, they're 'normal'. Go look at C2 prices for inflated.
That's for sure. You can't touch one for under $45K. $25K to $35K gets you a beater, that needs a lot of work. $50K-$60K is about the range right now for most of them. Oddly enough, the coupes are worth more than the 'verts.
If I am properly informed, our 74's came with the last of the heavy duty Muncys and a heavier rear end than later years. If we want to build up our engines, my original 350 is up to about 375 hp and I don't worry about leaving drive component pieces in the the road behind me.

The late production '74's, came with the Borg Warner Super T-10's (still a pretty decent tranny)(My T-10 is the numbers matching transmission). I also remembered, it's the last year of a regular distributor and the mechanical tach.
This is worth the first year's depreciation on a C7.
But you know even though our 74's does not have much money compared with the C2, they still get pretty much good pricing once are restored. I see how the 2014 prices goes down in value very dramatic and to me our C3's are like having gold they just go up.

Wrong on both counts. The M20/M21 of any year were not heavy duty. There is little difference in power handing capabilities between any of the non-batwing diffs.
