The 69 I purchased had aftermarket tail light lenses on it, I purchased NOS lenses and installed them. I notice today that when I apply the brakes or turn on the turn signals both lights blink (the correct turn signal/brake light and the backup light. This happens on both sides or the car. Any ideas. Thank You George
Were all four of your aftermarket lenses red? I think that someone converted your 69 wiring to the 68 only, all four red tail lights working. GM cheapened all 69-82 Corvettes by dropping the red inner tail lights. You should be happy to have four real red tail lights, like all 1984 - 2013 Corvettes. And yes I own a 68 and I am slightly biased! Lou.
Yep...when people put the bubble tail light lenes on their cars most rewired it for a better safer dual action on both sides loosing the reverse light,
You can rewire so you have your inner lenses as back ups OR leave it since only a vette savvy person will catch it and it's safer,
To make all 4 lights work like that, the PO had to change out the inner housings to work with the 1157 bulb.
You will have to source a set of back-up light housings to convert back to the 69 standard operating set up.
NOTE, either lense will work with either housing. The standard back-up housing used a 1156 bulb and had only one wire going to it.

Second that about the cheapen tail lights. For my 70, I have four red tail lights. I also have the 68 backup lights in the rear exhaust valance. No bubba wiring to install the 68 lights in the 70. I bought a 68 rear harness from lectriclimited and all the rear lights and harnesses are all stock 68.
Early C3's, when originally driven had a high incidence of rear end collisions. I those days of muscle cars, etc, you got a lot of pushers if you were driving a Corvette. I decided to go with the 4 tail lights of the 68 for a little more perhaps protection. However, I will say that driving the 68 or the 08, I don't get people trying to intimidate me in my Corvette like I did in the late 60's to late 80's.
Talking about driving in the old days, since I have had my 68 coupe for 42 years now, one type of car ALWAYS had to pass me on the freeway....VW beetles!!! LOL Lou.
