Default 71 interior question

I see some 71s with a RH radio side panel extension, some without the extension piece. What's correct? How does the extension attach?

I am wondering whether you mean coupe or convertible and not radio. It is possible convertibles have a trim piece attached to the RH console trim which covers part of the cowl bracing.

I have a convertible with AC car. Again I see most cars with just the RH mostly square trim panel and a few cars with the extension piece as well. Alan must know 😄

Hi R71,
Thanks for the vote of confidence.
The 71 AIM shows the same part number for the small filler panel for both coupes and convertibles.
It shows a small extension piece, that screws to the filler panel, as part of the a/c option. Part Number 1954504, Convertible only.
That DOESN"T mean the production line may or may not have been doing something different.
Here's a coupe, no a/c.
Regards,
Alan

I praeume the filler panel extension is a separate piece as shown in most parts catalogues. I'm wondering how it attaches. Most 73s have it and it seems to be one piece. Any knowledge on how it attaches?

These are off of my 72 convertible. The extension piece that you aske about is held on by a couple screws.

Hi r,
There are 2 raised 'pads' on the back side of the filler that are already drilled to accept the 2 screws that mount the extension.

Alan
