Drove one of their AWD Astro Vans for three years, still one of the best company vehicles I've ever had.

Hi Ralph,
Although I grew up in Northern Jersey, I lived/live in Westminster which is about 40 miles from the old factory.
Myself and 2 friends probably went on the 'guided' tour through the plant about 6 times in 64-66 period.
It was an incredible sight because the 4 mid-size A-body brands were built on the same line.
So you'd occasionally see a tri-power GTO behind a Cutlass wagon and in front of a Super Sport!
I was 20…. what fun!
I think the Bethlehem Steel Mill and Ship Yard, Martin Marietta, and the GM Factory gave Baltimore a lot of it's blue-collar character.
Regards,
Alan

GM has since sold the site to the developer Duke Realty, who has demolished the old plant and is rebuilding the site as an industrial park called the Chesapeake Commerce Center.
So goes the nation, imports only, don't make a thing here any more....

Alan, I live about 20 miles from where the GM plant was in Framingham Mass. They built the same A body in the 60's and 70's it is now an Adessa auto auction site.

Was nice to hear from members regarding the Gm Assembly as it brings back pleasant memories. This facility was closed in 2007 and provided jobs for many of its workers in the newly built Allison facility in White Marsh, MD area. Allison is owned by GM and supplies transmissions for many GM trucks. The land vacated by GM was developed and is currently housing one of Amazon's warehouses. Though it will not bring back many of those well paying jobs, to be sure the area and its current employees are very grateful. Living in Reisterstown, My wife and I are very fond of that area.
