Default Rivet suggestions for attatching weather stripping?

Im replacing the vertical rear weather strips. The new parts (foam with steel inserts) did not come with rivets. I dont want to 'experiment' until I find the right size. What have you guys used?

Scott , I had the same question on my 82 . I couldn't find the right ones . Then several members just said , use 3M adhesive , put on & shut door . I even took it a little further . Removed my T-Tops and used several plastic clamps to help pull the window tighter against it ....

ID really like to rivet it if possible, as the replacement parts already have the built in metal supports. I just dont want to risk punching holes in the new weatherstripping. I dont know how I feel about the double sided tape idea or adhesive, I may have to take a closer look tonight. Ive found that aftermarket weatherstripping causes me the most headaches of all my replacment parts.

When you buy the weather stripping, most people order the adhesive and the rivets all at once. Any one of the vendors will have them, or maybe someone like Wilcox can tell you the size if you contact them.

Well, of course a normal person would have checked if the rivets came with the purchase but I just hit the 'buy it now' button. I dont want to pay 14 dollars shipping for 1.50 worth of rivets, So I may just go the weatherstrip cement and clamp idea as mentioned earlier. Dog knows it takes me HOURS to remove old stripping that was secured with that stuff.

You didn't say what year, but I replaced all weather stripping on my 73.
On the B pillar on the rear, I had to remove the inside panels behind the seat
and you have to rivet the weather strip from the inside. I used the black 3M adhesive
and riveted the bottom of the strip. It's been a while, but the rivets that I used, I believe,
were 5/32" x 1/4" aluminum.
That's width x length.
You should be able to size the hole with the old rivet removed.

Hope this might help you.

Donnie

5/32 x 1/4 is what I was looking for. Id have used the old ones for comparison but they were pretty mangled. Thanks for the assist.
