That's what I figured, but it doesn't seem like a worthwhile mod on a vette since so much dash space is dedicated to a tach...? I was hoping for a monster Z-bar extension to handle all that extra oomph!

I used to think these were used on cars that didn't have tachs in the dash but that's not the case, but it might have been to run an electric tach in the era of cars with dizzy drive tachs

That's a great point I never thought of. In fact, Joel may have made mods to certain engines that used a totally different distributor therefore requiring a new tach.

You nailed it!!!

I just took a quick look at some of my old issues of "High-Performance Cars" magazine. High-Performance Cars was based in NYC, so they had easy access to both Motion Performance and Baldwin Motors. They regularly featured Motion Corvettes, Camaros, Novas, Chevelles and Impalas, as well as using Motion's shop for many of their tech articles.
Every Corvette I saw in the magazines, with a Motion hood, had the scoop opened up. I can post a few pictures from Cars tonight or tomorrow, if you'd like.
Very cool! Now thinking of a new CD box and leather wrapped steering wheel for under $100! The marketing blurp is pretty cool too...I think you'd be sued these days for such claims...?
