Default Seat Identification Help

Need some help to ID the origin of these seats. The seat covers are different, but are these the same tops/bottoms that come in a 72 Vette? I am looking at these to put in my 72 with new seat covers, foam, etc and need some donor seats.

Sorry, but that is custom upholstery so it is difficult to identify them for year. They are high buckets which makes them 70 and later.

Check the springs under a seat bottom. You should find a metal tag attached to the springs. The tag has date codes on it.

Easy Mike, thanks. I guess I should rephrase what I need. Should I be able to buy 72 foam and seat covers to use on these seats? How about the black insert in the top of the seat the seat belt goes through? I basically just need seats I can put new foam and covers on to mount in my 72.

I agree with Mike.

Sounds like you are looking for correct seat frames and probably tracks as well. If you don't find date-coded tags, you may have to do some disassembly to determine what you have.

I realize that if you don't already own the ones in the photos, dissembly may not be an option, but I don't have a better answer based on what I'm seeing.

The seats are 70-78 Corvette seats, which are all basically the same. The tracks are all the same, as are the seat frames. When the covers are removed from the seat backs, the slots should be there for the belts to go through, no mater what year the seats came out of.

To use those seats with shoulder harnesses, you'll need to buy the harness guides that go in the back of each seat back ($19.00 ea), the bezels that go on the back of each seat and screw to the guides ($9.00 ea) and the front upper seat back molding ($50.00 ea).

74 and later seats, could have wires and a terminal plug, attached to the underside of the seat bottom, but they shouldn't prevent you from using the seats.

Thanks for the info! I figured they would work but just wanted to make sure. A couple more pics of the seats. I just need something to start with to put 72 style seats back in my car instead of the 80 style.
