Is there some trim missing?

No trim's missing.
It looks like your interior quarter trim panel, doesn't fit well. Though there's often a bit of a gap there, the gap between the trim panel and window frame on your car, seems excessive. Notice the joint where the trim panel and under window molding meet, this should be tighter too.
If the gap bothers you, try loosening up all of the panels (headliner, quarter trim and under window panel), and see if you can get the fit a little better.
