Great gift! I got dual exhaust for our 77 for our anniversary. Unfortunately my wife isn't interested in working on the car.

Great gift... Lucky man.

I didn't peek but I'm thinking you might need bigger rear tires!

Out with the old .....
This is the original L-48 numbers matching motor which I put a 383 rotating assy into 10000 mi ago. Ran very strong and never failed me but started to smoke getting progressively worse. After replacing 3 sets of valve stem seals, I give up. I had the heads reconditioned 10000 mi ago too but now the valve stems are undersize and rattle in the guides. Rattle is a bad choice of words but there is more clearance with the guides than I think there should be. I will oil mist and "bag" this motor and if I ever decide to sell this car (my favorite toy) it will go with the car along with the original rotating assy which I also saved.
Itsa lot of work but "boys and their toys" . It will be at least a 2 twelve pack of michelob light job. Oh woe is me
Ya'll Enjoy!!!!!
I am

So give us a comparison on the L48 to the 383... I'm considering going the same route.

I never got a chance to drive the car as an L-48. It was wrecked when I bought it. I have another 75 that is also an L-48 which I have driven and it ain't much in the power department. As our rubber bumper C-3's are,
for the time being, the red headed step child of the Corvette world, I don't think stroking them or replacing the motor is going to hurt any future value. Just bag an keep the original motor just in case the rest of the Corvette world wakes up to what we got. The only downside is getting used to the smell of burning rubber...
