Xtreme 9000 Base/Clear Paint
Has anyone used this paint and how did it work for you? A friend that owns a Corvette restoration shop was showing me a couple cars that he painted with it ( 1962 corvette and 69 Camaro ) and you couldn't ask for a better finish and depth of shine. The whole package costs around $300. Before I bought this paint I priced a gallon of PPG Viper Red at the local paint supply store and was told that it would be $950. for a gallon of paint alone. ( no additives hardeners or reducers ) Everyone that I have talked to has said that it is as good as any well known paints on the market. You do have to change your methods that you are used to with conventional paints. The base takes longer to dry before the clear coat is applied and no more than two coats of base should be applied but no more is needed since the coverage is achieved with high solids paint. Hopefully this is the answer to the high cost of paint.
