Thinking about swapping out my stock exhaust with some headers and side pipes. Looking to increase power a bit. Any other easy mods short of a complete engine change? It's a '79 L82. Are there specific heads that could be put on it for a little hp gain? Love the car it's just not as strong as my other vettes.

Thanks,
Michael

Headers are a good idea. But, sidepipes don't flow as well as a good 'straight-thru' pipe set of the same size. The elbows in the sidepipe design are more restrictive. But, they do have a "cool factor" to them and they do increase road clearance a bit.

Side pipes also have longer headers which help in other ways, trade off...
Get a good aftermarket intake like a performer, every company has their version of it, get a hotter coil for the hei perhaps have a good carb shop like Ruggles or Murphy rebuild your carb for your set up...
