Hi 2x4,
The P-O-P plate was used to imprint that label.
The R is in the 11th position on the 'C' line of the P-O-P and indicates the source of the carburetor. R for Rochester!
Regards,
Alan
Well, if it was two R's, I'd say it stands for Really, Really, clean and nice!
Do you ever drive it?
Thanks. Yea we go to cruise nights and NCRS events. It has 56K original miles and has been flighted.. Great car and drives excellent even with the original wide ovals. Now I know side pipes bother the purest but the original owner done them in 1974 (have the original receipt) from a chevy dealer out side of Pittsburgh PA crivelli Chevrolet. I wont touch them. Its part of the cars history.

Thanks Alan, Funny I don't see that on other 70 LS5 cars?
Hi 2x4,
I searched the NCRS data base but there was no info for 13/686.
You should consider joining the NCRS. Lot's of good information at the Discussion Board, and the 4 RESTORER and 6 DRIVELINE magazines per year are always interesting and useful.

Hi,
I've taken another look at the AIM and I've missed the fact that the 'R' is in the "A' line on your label….. not the 'C' line.
So I'm stupid after all.
?????
Regards,
Alan
I like your answer. I've never seen it, but I wouldn't find it far fetched that the dealer got ink on the "R".
I noticed my P-O-P does not match UPC 0, Sheet B3 either, and that "R" looks to be the proper font and gap.
EDIT: It is clear that this was a generic P-O-P diagram, as some of the items do not make sense for corvette.
Thanks guys and I am an ncrs member. I done the search with ncrs historical and they came up with zone 13 dealer 686. Now the crazy thing is they said they don't know the name of the dealer but in their report dealers name began with an R..? Now the factory side pipes were added in 1974/75 by the original owner at crivelli Chevrolet in Mckees rock PA.
Hi Pete,
Remember the dealer didn't do that label, the plant did.
On my 71 AIM page for the P-O-P the "R" is shown as being on the "C" (3rd line) and that's where it is on the plate too. Yours is obviously on the "A" line on both too.
It just shows how careful you need to be thinking what was true for 1 model year might be true for the previous or next year too.

Alan

Hey Alan,
That is true, I guess the dealer only affixes the owner's information. Depending on 1970s format, I would still find it feasible for them to get ink on the "R" if that is its location.
That bill is great. 2x4, I'll pay you double for them! What a deal right?!
