Default 68-72 Chrome Bumper Replacement Quality

I am looking to hear from others regarding their experience with 68-72 rear chrome bumper replacements/sources. Some say to stay away from the import bumpers as they are 'wavy', others say that the imports are better than the domestics…

I would recommend re-chroming the original if you have them available.

I posted this in another thread.. hopefully it will help you form your own opinion.

The bumpers at this link are the Paragon bumper. The best reproduction bumper in the business hands down. http://willcoxcorvette.com/advanced_...eywords=bumper and you can use the 10 off code in this section.

I have not had any issues with the paragon bumpers of late, they always fit great on the rear and the fronts can be a bit of a task at times.

Not to push the imports, but we just installed a set in our shop and I was a bit surprised. The imported seemed to fit pretty darn good, I was expecting problems and issues but had none! The chrome.. was I'd say a 7 on a 10 scale..

What I saw was the chrome on the imported bumpers was not as nice as what you get on the Paragon bumpers, but I have to be honest they were pretty darn nice looking and pictured below. The fit and chrome was as good as anything GM produced and I have NOS bumpers of these to prove it.

My issue with the imported bumpers.... they are imported.. Factor the cost vs. the quality. I will always stick with the Paragon bumpers, but if one is wanting to save on price I honestly think the imports are as good as anything GM ever made and I've been planing on doing a pictorial of this for a long time, I might have to move forward with this.

IMHO, Willcox

Thanks again for the responses. I had a bad experience with some re-chromed originals pitting not too long after I purchased them. I am sure the cores were rough and not prepped properly prior to chroming. I will revisit this again and look for some decent cores perhaps.

Thanks,
Steve

Let me know if you go that route, I probably have some good cores. I'd have to double check though.
