What did you do to your C3 today?

2019 Maiden Voyage - Feels some good to get back out
Made it out - Made it back
Took my daughter out for another drive up along the lake (cold and windy today but at least not raining for a change)
Made it out - Made it back again!
Everything seems to be functioning although I've got a snap /tick / pop in the radio that wasn't there before (not the typical tied to RPM one either, seems worse when going slow and almost completely goes away above about 40) but anyway, something in the new HEI is giving me some grief, I'll have to take the cap off and double check the coil ground. (running off the MSD 6a box so there's not much else in the dizzy at this time)
And installed the new PRNDL (again with the console plate back off for the umpteenth time this spring, hopefully for the last time now)
Next 3 days look like rain so maybe I'll get to the mufflers in-between building the ark and gathering the animals

I've been working on my 80 every chance I get, which isn't much unfortunately. But I'm making some real progress. Just finished up installing homemade leather side panel covers, and my Leatherique dyed seats. Door panels are ready to go in, but I need to replace the driver window motor and regulator first (not looking forward to this). Then the interior will be finished.

Ipod touch where the ashtray used to be is the perfect size for that spot on the shifter plate so I made a holder underneath and it plugs into the back of my pioneer headunit
The PRNDL displays are just a set of 3 OLED blue displays. Made a thread about the general idea here

I am glad to see how many of us are working on the same things and seem to help one another with advice and ideas.
To answer the question about my door panels and seats: I really do not know, sorry! This car has been a many year project by multiple owners. It has been kind of passed up and down the street from one to the next. LOL.
(At least staying in the same town for over twenty years. )
The original interior was silver, and since the side panels to the seats were painted black over silver I would assume they are original seats with new cushions. The door panels, rugs, sun visors, and many other parts were still brand new but stored in one big box. So I am not sure where they came from.
AFA head room: The seats do line up with the original holes in the floor and the passenger seat bolts were still in the glove box. The strange part is the last owner was very big, tall, and bulky. So he must have planned on having a hard time with headroom . We are just the opposite, so I was worried about sitting too low. I have not made final seat risers yet but I found 1/2 inch (temporary) wood blocks at the rear mounts work perfect for me. Plus: somewhere else in the forums someone suggested splitting a rubber waterline hose and slipping it over the lower seat back pan would help tilt the seat back more forward. It is a perfect angle now!
AFA: the drivers side window regulator and motor: I too was not looking forward to that project. But with the help of C3 youtube videos and some threads here it was not so bad. The only two BIG suggestions I have is be sure and install a safety bolt in the regulator gear unless the motor is still installed AND THE GEARS STILL MESH! (I would install it one way or the other since the regulator arms become one big pair of scissors) and the other is to find a replacement regulator that has the prefixed mounting nuts so you dont need those three big rivets. And while you are at it, inspect your right regulator assist spring. Its obvious those springs fail and I found mine had a big crack in the winding. Oh, and a couple other things: grab a piece of "emery" (am I showing my age) and go over all the edges of the access openings in the door, as they become razor blades while installing the regulators. And finally: replace the vapor barrier; (as suggested by a professional collector) to keep car washing water from dripping down onto the new upholstery and bugs from nesting.
So: what was listed as "what did you do to your C3 today? " really meant what did you do today (install my door panels) was actually the very last step of a month-long project leading up to those last few screws.
thanks,
ed

Today I got one big step closer to starting the body off resto/mod of my 73!
I finished painting the master bedroom.
All done and my wife said those magic words.
"Honey, now that it's all painted I really don't like the color. Its a shade too dark"!
So, I thought, I was closer to starting the resto/mod of my 73.
Instead, I drove to Home Depot, bought some new paint and got the first coat on.
I really love my wife, so no big deal.

I finally put the matching numbers engine and transmission back into the car after a pretty lengthy rebuild and upgrade. I put some worked over 906 vortec heads, Howards hydraulic roller cam, performer intake, rebuilt the bottom end with forged pistons (since it was bored 0.030 over), as well as many other things to make this combo work together.
This won't be a race car, so I decided not to put a shift kit into the stock TH400, but I did replace almost all the seals on it so it doesn't leak (fingers crossed).
Man, that thing was a pain in *** to get all the way back on the transmission mount! It was the first time for me to take out the engine and put it back in, though.
Love the look of a fresh chevy orange paint job.

After seeing another post about finding the original spare tire, I got curious and checked mine. Would you look at that! The date code on it is 217 which squares perfectly with the May 1977 build date of my car. A pretty cool find!

Dang it, now I am going to have to pull mine to see if it dates back to 1968!

Don't forget to check for original air in the spare.
It could add value to your car!
