Burning Brakes
Fixed
I lost 1st and 2nd gear yesterday and today my normal mechanic was not available and my backup mechanic was to busy so I fixed it myself. The side mount shifter on my five speed transmission came loose took longer to get to it than it did to fix. I think I need to buy some locktite I have screws and nuts falling all over the place half of them I can't find where they came from.
Ready for the weekend.

Repairing some fatigued electrical connectors on the headlights. The headlamps are standard sealed beams lamps. The .320 connectors are both series 59. Here are samples of the crimps.

There are several vendors on ebay. The Au-ve-co product #18690 OEM#2973215 25 pieces, and #18651 OEM#2973216 25 pieces about $10.00 a box. Au-ve-co products are in my opinion superior to others.

I had a Borgeson steering box sitting on my workbench for the last three weeks while life got in the way. I finally got some time to start the remove and replace operation.
During my first test fit, I found that I didn't collapse the column enough, so it came back out for a couple of more taps with the BFH. The Borgeson box just barely wiggles into the space between the Hooker side pipe headers and the frame.
Im taking the rest of the day off to take the spousal unit to dinner.

I got done with a bunch of other things and decided to go to a local cruise night at K-Mart on the Boulevard. Showered, threw a chair in the back, and grabbed a couple of root beers and bottle of water for the cooler. I got there and no one was around. I thought maybe they moved it and I missed that announcement, so I checked a couple of other places they have them, but nothing. So I put 30 miles on tonight looking for a show that didn't happen.
I did have a guy in a C6 Z06 pull up next to me and he was excited to see it out. and I got a few sprinkles on from a localized thunderstorm I passed.
Stopped at Arby's and got a sandwich, and then headed back home. I guess it wasn't a complete loss.

This morning I plumbed a fuel return line from the carb to the tank. Used a .060 restriction. Fuel pressure remains steady at 6 psi. Not worried about vapor lock in the Texas heat anymore.

I didn't do anything to the C3 per-se, but I've been re-arranging and field-daying the garage for the last 3 days. The pause for organization, as it were..

JohnnyQuik do you have any more pics of your car? Looks like yours is the same exact color as mine.
Today I went on a couple of short drives with the kids, one at a time of course. I just love cruising on the freeway at 75-80mph and 2,000 rpm in 5th gear
