With respect, does it really matter? Just get a good running Q-Jet for your car. Who gives a d*** what number is on the carb on a 1974 Corvette? Sure I have one but it does not run well. So it sits as a numbers-matching trophy of sorts in the basement. Looks pretty down there. Just get a decent Q-Jet that works.
I have found a carb that has a Julian date 2034 which I believe is July 22/74. Would it be 'believable' to have a date like this on a car built Oct 24th? Thx!
No, because your car was built Oct. 24th 1973 and the carb was built 9 months later (July 23, 1974).

Hi Paul! I get the logic and understand your view. The issue is that either way, I have to find a correct carb (proper choke and throttle linkage, vacuum port set-up). Since I had to do the exercise regardless, I thought that I would put a little additional effort in and find the correct carb and rebuild it. Everything on the car including the interior is original and the only incorrect item is the carb which was bastardized from a Olds…Besides it's winter

I understand your position. No problem. And you are wise to think of the divorced choke, linkage, and vacuum ports. The 1974 has some quirky attributes (e.g. the EGR).
