Default Questions about engine suffix code

Hey gang, I just picked up my first Corvette. A 1974 Corvette L82 coupe as a project. After going over the VIN and the engine and trans stamps I have verified it to be a numbers matching original setup.

My question is regarding the suffix code on my block. I do not see a matching suffix code for my setup listed for 1974. My suffix is CLD which I do see listed for 1973 L82. The vin stamp matches so I know it hasn't been swapped out. Is it common to find a late 1973 motor put into an early 1974 car? Thanks for all your help. I will be sure to post up some pics of the new project.

My Black Book says CLD is also correct for 1974.
