Default Parts Identification

Hey guys,
I have a 74 L48 with a 4 speed.
I was just going over my car and spotted a couple things. One was this clip which appears as though it goes to the steering column but what does it do?

The other is I have a leak on my transmission and it drips does to the trans mount which now needs to be replaced. It appears as though the leak comes from this. What is this?

Your first picture is showing the steering wheel/transmission lock. If connected, it prevents locking the steering wheel unless the car is in park or reverse.

Your second picture is the backup/reverse light switch. Are you leaking electrons?

Hi Revi,
I didn't know you could see 'electrons'… I thought you could only 'feel' them under certain conditions.
Regards,
Alan

E9000,
But I do agree that the switch really can't leak; perhaps something is dripping on the switch from above, or being blown back on the switch and then dripping off the switch which makes it look like it's leaking.

Agreed. I did not remove the switch or anything and when it was on the lift I thought perhaps it actually screwed into the trans but now after looking up the part I see it just bolts to the trans. I will have to look into the switches about it or something. It's not a bag leak but I generally try to nip them in the bud.

Oh I've felt them as well. Ever get hit with 550v? What's 550v you ask.........110v five times in a row. I make an excellent ground.
