79 defrost duct question

79 defrost duct question
I'm reassembling my dash after a heater core replacement. This gap between the center duct and defrost duct existed when I took it apart. What goes between the 2 pieces? I bought a seal kit for the heater box and related components, but it didn't include anything for this gap.

I had the same issue on my 77, my post got some replies and what I found was that it was sealed with duct tape. I went to Home Depot and bought some hvac duct foil tape. It increased the air flow 10 fold.

My 79 ducts fit pretty good (but still wasn't a 'tight' fit). If I remember right, the top piece was held on with a screw driven through it (but might not have been the stock method of attachment).
I wouldn't recommend duct tape, as it will dry out after a year or so. The HVAC foil tape that danh77 mentioned would be a much better choice.
