Who else has a 4sp manual, manual brakes, and manual steering? I love every minute of it, and would never change it. And as a bonus all that manual stuff keeps alot of buddies/girlfriend from not wanting to drive it, cause they can't handle it.
'71 454 4 speed Coupe here with no special nothing, no power options, no AC, no Deluxe interior, just a 454 and a 4 speed. Never have driven it, but imagine it was a pretty wild car when new. Looking forward to running it without any power assist upgrades to see if I like it. If OK, it'll stay like that.
Oh, and my wife and friends are not put-off buy a non-power car. They are looking forward to driving it.
My 76 that I put a big block in has power brakes but thats it. Manual steering, window cranks, no AC, fixed headlights and the seats are bolted straight to the floor. Heck I even have to turn the turn signals off manually after making the turn. On second thought maybe I'll fix that.
My two:
'71 Convertible-4 spd, no p/s,p/b,a/c, or p/w, and standard interior.
'72 Coupe-4 spd, no p/s,p/b,p/w, and standard interior, but does have a/c.
I wonder "what they were thinking" when they ordered some of these cars. I can understand an all manual car or a loaded one. However, my '67 has power windows and power steering but manual brakes and transmission. My '72 has power brakes, A/C and deluxe interior but manual steering, transmission, and windows
Dealer orders from back in the day were odd. I have a 70 Chevelle wagon factory ordered with dual exhaust and a 3 spoke sport wheel, not very wagon-y fair. Not a way I would expect a buyer to order it.
Using the F-word, I have a 71 Sportroof that had the console with gages, V8/3 spd manual and AC. Had manual steering and manual drum brakes! Figure it was a dealer showroom car, as it looked like a Mach 1 but had to be much cheaper to have on the floor.
Also have seen a Monte Carlo with no options but power locks and power bench seat. PDL with no power windows, but with the power seat, and nothing else ?
My 72 is manual everything, has a/c. I'm seriously considering adding p/s. It's so hard to steer it's dangerous in a slow speed (parking lot) situation.
Call me a sissy , but if my corvettes don't have all power , they get it. Even the fact that they are all 4 speeds which are fun to drive , I don't want to work when I drive them. I drive them to relax and don't need a beast to prove my manhood .
'70 LS-5 vert with 4-speed, manual steering and brakes. No power windows and standard (not stereo) am/fm radio. Only options were deluxe interior and RWL Goodyears. I purchased the optional hardtop later (in 1971) and painted to match.
There is nothing wrong with having manual brakes on an early C-3 Vette. Most people do not even realize it, if they drive it. My doctor didn't when I let him drive mine. Manual steering is another thing entirely. I had to add it to mine, after selling my 69 Camaro to buy my 68 Coupe. Lane changes at speed seemed too hard to me, to be safe. Lou.
I wish mine had manual windows. I don' think there's any need for power windows since the car is so small and you can reach both windows easily. I always think they're going to break... haha. I like the power steering and brakes though.
68 BB no p/s, no p/b and a 4 speed, changed the tie rods and the shifter rods to the "quick" settings, love it!
My 73 had 350 L82, M21 and a am/fm mono radio...as my dad use to say less stuff to break.
I totally enjoy driving it, anxious for some road time with the 454 in it now
