Hi WB,
Do you remember 'reverb' units from the early 60s?
It was attached to the speaker mounted in the rear package shelf. It delayed the sound coming from that speaker for perhaps 1/2 a second or so compared to the front speaker.
It made the radio sound like you were driving in the Grand Canyon.
Some people said that if you were in a car with one for more than an hour the sound made you cross-eyed.
I think they were sorta popular for a couple of years. It didn't take much to fascinate us then, but our attention span was pretty short!
Regards,
Alan

I do remember them! My younger brother had one in his 65 Tempest
I had one of those reverb units in a 71 Fury. Only thing I sincerely hate about my new 73 Corvette is the POS radio someone installed in an otherwise perfect interior. It is a Radio Shack (God rest their soul) Realistic. I may have to replace it even before I upgrade the exhaust.
I guess it's from the time I was a teen but I love old cheesy high end for it's day car audio, the more pointless ***** dials and lightshows the better,
I have been thinking about hanging one of these under the dash....
Nowdays are cool...I can carry 80k songs on a little zip drive....
I still remember some of those old school aftermarket units too. The first ones i can remember we those Pioneer under dash cassette players with their Super-Tuner!. Some of those old radios still can crank out the db's, If set up correctly. That old car stereo gear has a huge following today and with some of them are fetching some serious loot too.
Had a reverb unit in my '58 Bonneville back in the early 60's - pretty cool for the time. The car also had a Trans Portable radio. Anyone remember those?
Would you recomend it?
How is the apperance of the display? It is light blue, but ´69 was a green year.
I have a blue radio display in another car, this color would be terrible in my C3.
They write it has a usb port, but write nothing about playing mp3 or sth.
Currently I have a custom autosound USA-630 and it sucks. The mp3 function freezes more and more, now every 2 minutes. It´s just not usable anymore. I don´t want to buy something from them again.
And the radios from retrosound seem to be the same cheap china junk.
Now I want something that looks like the original radio, but plays mp3.
This one from zip could be nice, despite the very modern display.

I have that radio. Purchased it about 5 years ago. Then it did not have the USB option. Post 3 in this thread is my review of it just after I installed it.
It still functions fine but you are correct about the blue vs green. Here's a photo I took tonight for you in the dark with the dash lights only. The radio is MUCH brighter than the standard dash lights.
It does what I want but for that price I think there must be better options - unfortunately few exist without cutting the dash. OH, and the buttons rattle but can be stopped by placing a thin strip of cardboard beneath them.
Thank you Fred, pics are great!
The LCD is what I expected, much to bright and blue.
My Custom-Autosound has a simple green LCD and looks like 80´s.
But this light blue looks much to modern.
I think I will take it appart and insert a green foil between the display and the front window.
