I picked up a project 1974 L-82 coupe and I'm trying to locate the RPO codes to see what options the car had from the factory. Can someone tell me where to look for the RPO option codes? I read somewhere that it was on the engine side of the cowl. Is it a paper sticker that might be history? Thanks for the help.
I've never seen an RPO code list on any 60's or 70's Corvette, other than the paint and interior color. If you can find the tank sticker, you can get it from there.

Thanks, I've already dropped the tank and replaced it so I will remove the years of dust and dirt from the old tank and see if it's there.
84 was the first year that Corvettes came with an RPO Label.
Your car originally had a Build Sheet, listing all of the RPO's on it, glued to the top of the gas tank. If the your car has it's original fuel tank, the "tank sticker" may still be on top of the tank.

The Corvette Black Book has a list of the available options, but without original paperwork with your car, you will not be able to determine how it left the factory. Naturally, some things are obvious: what's the engine code in the VIN? power brakes, steering, or windows? AT? Factory air? Factory stereo? Leather?
This is pretty good:

Hey Mike great name! It happens to be my name also.
The Engine VIN code is T and the block matches the VIN as well. I've broken down the VIN, but wanted to know about any other features that I haven't noticed.
I did check my old gas tank and I can tell where the paper was, but it must have fell apart when I dusted it off. Are there any other areas where a second build sheet might be located?
On a 74, all the VIN can tell you is if the car was a coupe (3rd digit a "3"), or a convertible (3rd digit a "6"), and which engine came in it (5th a "J" L-48, "T" L-82 or "Z" 454). On the forward driver's door jam, is the trim tag. You can determine the original color of the interior and paint, from the codes on the trim tag.
Body style, engine and the colors, was the only information permanently attached to the car. Unfortunately, beyond that you need either a build sheet or window sticker, to determine what options were originally installed on the car.
Finding the tank sheet intact and legible is pretty lucky, finding a second sheet... I have read some have found one behind their dash.
Here are the options that could have come in '74. With a little research around your car (part/casting numbers, etc.) you can distinguish which options were original to the car.
