To some of the negative feed back above the engine can be tore apart and inspected and even taken to a local speed shop to be inspected i wouldnt want anyone to get a scrap piece of iron.

Thanks
1 17 6 (January 17, 1966) and 1 27 6 (January 27 1966) doesn't make much more sense. However, what does make sense is 11 7 6 (Nov 7, 1966) and 12 7 6 (Dec 7, 1966).

Everything you have says this is a 1967 engine, but these date codes are not lining up.

If you could post pictures of the date codes and the engine front pad, it would really help us determine what you have.

Also, 1967 Corvette #7146 was built on January 2, 1967, so Dec engine assembly date makes sense.

Great, except for the engine pad pic. It is just too small to see properly.

Looks like a casting date of 12 6 6 (Dec 6, 1966) with an assembly date of 12 19 (Dec 19th).

Could you try again on the engine pad photo?

A 67 435 hp engine with correct heads is worth some good money, and worth even more to the owner of the car. Need some good pics of that engine pad. Thanks.

If you can't post better pics. email them to me at emccomas57@gmail.com. I'll get them posted for you.

It is very rare to find a casting with the month represented as a number. The first character is most likely a I and not a 1. I represents a casting date of September. The correct casting date is Sept. 26, 1966.

It is 9-26-66. Letters were always used for months & A is Jan.

After all the help decoding what I have we have figured out that it is a 67 427 block but the heads have been changed somewhere along the line, and the heads are the right casting number but they are a 68 date. Thanks for every one that has helped me figure this out.

Thanks alot for your help

Here is a better pic of the engine pad.

I agree on the casting date of I 26 6 (Sep 26, 1966). Don't know where my brain was.

The original poster should put this in the C1/C2 section.

The pad looks like it was cleaned with a abrasive.

Don't clean the engine pad with anything that will scratch the metal surface.

Definitely do not use sandpaper. I think it is a real engine pad, but those sandpaper scratches are going to cause questions to be asked.

Without the intake its a basic L-72...and without a TI distributor, 11-1 pistons and a solid lifter cam its then not a L-72 either and my subjective opinion

And I love BB`s...

OK, you know the car was titled in Pennsylvania in 2007. Google Corvette clubs in PA and contact all of them asking if anyone knows the car / owner.

Tell them why you are asking (you have the original engine).

Someone will know the car and / or owner.

Good luck, and keep us posted.
