Thank you everyone.
It seems I have learned there are 3 different gas doors. One yr. style for 68, two year style for 69,70 and a 3rd for 71-82. A very basic item but little details that can save time aggravation and money.

Ive been looking for a spring for my 68 door and they don't exist, now I know why. Thanks for the thread. Im going to see if I can figure something out, if not it will be on my new" to buy list" which seems to get longer everyday I look at my vette. Hmmmmmm ......but I cant stop looking at it, aaaaarrrgghh. I feel like Charlie Brown
