Default Corvette steering wheel lock?

68 Corvette steering wheel does not stay locked down moves up and down what do I need to do to fit is there a rebuild kit? Is thier a bolt loose?Or a adjustment I need to do?

Does the steering WHEEL move "up and down" or the steering COLUMN?

68 did not have a tilting steering wheel. That first came with the 69 model.

Are you maybe referencing the locking steering that keeps the steering wheel from turning left and right?

Are you referring to a telescoping wheel that doesn't lock and slides in and out?

While column moved up and down my "68" has 69 interior and 69 electrical has the internal voltage regator in alternator ! Could this be as easy as the round metal clip?

Have you opened it up.could be as easy as the screws that holds the telescoping brake to the Tele shaft.

I have one in garage and take a look and take some pictures for you.

Sorry, I'm not making any sense of it. I'll try once more, when you say up and down, do you mean telescoping toward the dash and back toward the driver?

Towards dash then towards driver I think it's something simple going out to take apart now !

Do you have a 69-up tilt and telescoping steering column added to your 68? Toward dash then toward driver sounds like a description of a telescoping feature. Telescoping steering was an option on 68s. There was no tilt feature. What do you have? How about a pic?

Was it the star. Headed bolt. did it have screws in it to keep it from backing out.
