Default 1970 coup rebuild

I will be removing my front clip soon for a replacement and my car body is setting on a wooden dolly. Reading though rvzio 69 restore thread there was some concern of too much weight on the back and the front lifting. My body is lagged down with two lag screws on each side and a strap though the door openings up front near the firewall. My question would be if I weighted down the front of the dolly would there be any concern of the front coming up or do I need to brace the back.

For sure you need to brace the front. Being a coupe the mid-section and rear are fairly rigid unless you have rust issues.

I do have the front braced now. My question is after I remove the front clip will the lack of weight up front be a concern with out adding weight to front of wood dolly. I moved complete body on dolly with trailer to body shop with no issues. thanks Gary

"I get it". The O.P. wants to know-----Once the front clip is removed, should he add a couple bags of sand(for example) to the front of the dolly to replace the weight lost from removing the front clip in order to keep the dolly "balanced" from front to rear.

(Being a rookie, I don't know the answer)

Default coupe restore

Well thanks for following or looking at my post. The dolly I assume is the lower one that I see in many posts. Mine was a little different since I had rivet work to do underneath. I imagine if you have the lower dolly you will be okay if you block the dolly from moving forward. Do you have everything you need to remove the clip? Let me know if you have any more questions, glad to help.......................

AFLAC/LOL! Does he need to add weight to the front of the dolly where the front clip "used to be" to keep the body from tipping backwards when loaded/unloaded/rolled around on sloping surfaces?

I can't see where that would hurt anything. Better to be safe. I thin on the dolly Alan gives out there may be support in the rear. I am not sure what dolly he has.

Thanks to all who replied. A little more as to what is going on. The dolly is the basic wood one about 24" tall. As said earlier front clip troubles so my new plan is to have body work done from doors back and body sealed and at least one coat of primer. Return home on dolly minis front clip and set body back on frame. Finish all of the rest as much as I can. Frame and motor 90% complete. then back to body shop for front clip and finish the paint job. Asking people in the know if my plan is on the right track. Some weight on front of dolly during the moving can not hurt. Again thanks to all who have helped. Much more as I move on. Gary
