Hi; I am replacing the door panels on my '73 vert and I'm wondering if the old original ones are worth anything. They are black and are cracked and split around the edges, the center is fine although they are hard as a rock. the passenger back side is stamped "April 1973 " , my car was built in May of '73 so these appear to be original. I am mostly thinking about the back side fiber board being of use to someone as they do fit better than the new CA ones. If there is no value here they are going to get tossed , they take up too much room in my garage. Here are a couple of pics. Would appreciate your thoughts.
Hi tp,
I don't know what to say.
The fiberboard backing is what some people are looking for but they're generally looking for very good vinyl too.
The fiberboard can have a new vinyl 'skin' put on it but that is very difficult and the results aren't always very good.
I wish you could find a place to save them….
Regards,
Alan
Box them up and put them in the attic...........
Or better yet, sell them on the forum here. It looks like the arm rests have the replacement pads on them? Anyway, I bet someone here would love to have them as driver quality panels.
Joe
I sold the ones off my 76 that where in much worse condition than yours for $100 + shipping on eBay. Just make sure you take detailed pictures so whoever buys them knows exactly what their getting.
The PO of my car clinched the deal when he showed me a large box of every part he had ever removed/changed out over the 25 years he had owned it. He had long ago installed Hooker side pipes, but, had kept the manifolds, air pump/brackets and bolts; he even had 75% of the original exhaust that had been removed! I have followed suit with every part I have replaced; who knows what a future owner (after I'm done with it) might want from the car. My original interior (seat covers, door panels, carpet, etc) is laying in a pile in my basement next to the PO's box of stuff!

Thanks I was hoping you would reply. I think we all value your opinion.

Yeah I do know what you mean. I sold a 91 vert that had all the documentation since it was new. It clinched the deal.
