Default Master cylinder - 72

I purchased a new master cylinder yesterday - new as opposed to rebuilt. Just above each port there are what look like bleeding valves. Could someone enlighten me on what these are for? If I was to guess, I'd say to run a tube back into the master for bench bleeding. Would this mean you could install the master into the car right out of the box and then bench bleed it in the car? Might be a little tidier.

TIA
Greg

The nipples are just above each of the blue plugs:

Below are a couple of teaser on where she is at (and where she came from) - I'll post more of a complete series shortly.

Hi Greg,
Yes, those are 2 bleeders used to bleed the master cylinder reservoirs and tunnels.
Car looks pretty terrific in the 'tease'!

Thanks! Is there any trick to using those bleed valves? Just run the tubes back into the chamber and keep them under the fluid I guess?

GM should have made all the MC's with the bleeder screws as in your replacement. These bleeder screws MC's were factory original on some Corvettes..don't remember what year/time frame. Notionally speaking, I'd guess that about 90% of the Corvettes made didn't have these bleeder screws. You're lucky to have them. You can bleed the MC in the car, as compared to bench bleeding.

Then he would miss out on the joy of having parts and brake fluid scattered from one end of the garage to the other

Hi 68/70,
I believe all 68-73 cars had master cylinders with the bleeder screws, while later production and replacement masters don't.
