At first look its a modded BBC car. But ... the shifter plate reads 454/425. It had Alum heads and the LS-6 intake when the owner bought it. It also looks like it has the proper tach! I mean why would someone swap those parts, back in the day?
It seems a great deal on a 'vette in general but if its a real LS-6 that is another story. I am tempted just on spec!
Alas, as usual I am out of the country or I would follow it up. It sure would be great to see this as an LS-6 again!
Any tips for the seller? Can you decode it by the VIN?
No. There is no engine information in the VIN, but that's a moot point. Read the listing again. The existing engine is not original and the listing says nothing about LS-6. It does say the engine was built by a professional shop.
Contact the seller and ask what is now under the hood.
It's a nice looking car, but keep in mind it's a used Corvette with a replacement engine. The asking price reflects that fact.

Hi c,
The data plate doesn't generate much excitement, but the redline on the tach is another story.
Originally an LT-! or LS-6 car?
So ????????
Regards,
Alan
NO! its not a LS-6 Vette.....has some wrong parts for it to be a factory car. I would say which ones but, don't want to alert anyone to how to create hard to tell frauds. I'm 100% sure it never was a LS-6 Vette because it has some features you would find on Vettes powered by Impala Staion Wagon type motors

carbster ....
As others have said the VIN doesn't denote what it was born. However in one way it does to a certain degree. It couldn't be a real LS6 just by that VIN number.
The incorrect parts I see on this Vette would require a body removal from the frame to install......that is why I say it isn't an LS-6 Vette.....any one in desperate need of locating one......I have a 1971 M-22 trans with a VIN# for an LS-6 car......my buddy swapped in an Doug Nash trans back in the early 80's into the Vette the trans came out of....had a dual disc clutch in it too.......you just have to have access to a law enforcement computer to locate the Vette.......
