Opinions on what my C3 (project) is worth selling
Hi C3 members,
I've put a lot of thought into this, but decided to sell my 75 corvette (project). Now, I'm asking for your opinion on a reasonable selling price or the lowest price to sell.
A little background on it-The car use to work back in 2007, but with a leaking head it ended my joyful ride. After that I bought a 2000 c5 and neglected to invest money and time into the Stingray. The motor is not working due to leaking antifreeze on one of the heads. The tires are flat due to cracks on the tires.... will need painting... replace parts of the interior. In other words, this st
ingray will be a good for someone wanting to start a project car. I've attached a pictures to just give you and idea.
Me I was thinking 2k? Less o more?
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks, in advance .
Jorge

I've been looking at buying another c3 to chop up and make a race car and I'm suprised at what people are asking for cars that need a lot of work. There's several nice cars rubber bumper cars on Craigslist for under 10 grand. I saw one car that was in bad shape and completely tore down and they were askin 2,000. I'd think you aren't to far off the price at 2,000 for a fairly quick sale. I guess it depends on the interior and how much work everything else needs.

There's another post on here from a guy that just bought one running for 2500. He feels pretty good about it and most people think he stole it for that price. It all depends on finding a buyer.

I think between $2500-3000 is probably a solid asking price judging by the pics and what you said about your '75. Perhaps if you flesh things out a bit more (options, interior condition/pics, etc.) we might be able to get a better overall value on it.
Later,
Lee
P.S. Looks like a solid project for sure. I hope that it finds a good Corvette home!

I got mine for $2,950 and all it needed was 2 spark plugs. I think I got a decent deal, and am resto-modding it now. I'd agree with what most are saying at around $2500. Ask for $2999; you can always talk down, but you can never talk your buyer into paying more.

Here is the 76 I sold for close to 4K a few years ago, it needed some body work, suspension bushing, had new exhaust and shockingly rust free frame, bad brake calipers or at least one but had a very good running sounding engine, it needed all kinds of "stuff" that gets annoying and adds up, I still had the 86 to get rid of and my 69 was on it's way... so the poor 76 needed a new loving home.
I had it on CL a few weeks with a zillion low ballers offering like 300-500, or swap me a dirt bike,
I would really try to weed out the PITA, looky lou nit pick types in emails, but of course one fellow slipped through, a pompous "know it all" who wanted it know he wasn't new to the vette game just had to set me straight that my asking price of 4500 was, way, way out of the question,
I told him, that's cool have a good one, he said don't you want to even hear my offer? I said nope....went in the house.
Two days later I sold it to a nice fellow who told me on the phone his budget was 3800...father and son project, he took the car home....the car was a garage sale find my wife scored for 1200.00 so we did okay.
I have seen the high asking prices for what I would consider basket cases so for your car ask like 3200-3500 about 1000 over what you would take then you can come down...raising the price is harder.
Get ready for a barrage of time wasters of all kinds....

Hi Guys, thanks for yall's opinion, now i know more or less what to ask. I will put it up for sale today. I understand my car aint worth gold (selling it high), but of course not 1500 (an offer i got). lol
Here are some pictures, after i washed it and gave decent clean of the inside. After cleaning the vette, i noticed I'm missing a carburetor and radiator.... which i cant find no where at my house. Oh... and seats are from a trans-am (electric), well driver side only.
Thanks again.

wow amazing the price differences across the country. in Mich, if that was rust free, it would go for $6k. headgasket job wouldn't scare too many people away, and they allll need paint : )

We paid 3,500 for our '77 in similar condition. The main difference was that ours had about 4k worth of new interior parts in it, and it is a desert car with no rust issues at all (not sure if your '75 is free of rust or not).
I'd say you're on the mark with the 2,500 or so starting price.
