Default 69 corvette under body insulation

Would anyone happen to have pictures of the under body insulation installed? I picked up the left and right side and can not see where it lays correctly, maybe a picture would help me.

Hi mft,
These are from a current post.
They're from a restored car perhaps they'll help.
Regards,
Alan

That is helpful but I dont see how this part has that much coverage? Does the widest side go to the front of the car?

Hi mft,
I guess you'll need to look at your car for the clips mentioned in the ZIP description.
Those clips (or the holes for the rivets that mount them) should give you an idea where the insulation goes.
There were various iterations of the type, amount, and location of the insulation and shields in 69 as production went on. So it can be a bit of a puzzle.
Regards,
Alan

Very true, many iterations. I held in up several different ways and none seemed correct.

If memory serves, the AIM shows the shields and brackets, but not the actual blanket insulation.

The 2 pieces of insulation I picked up at ZIP seem to be flat and stiff. Is that correct or is it soft and more like a blanket? The pictures by the way are great, thanks Alan for those.

Okay, those are the same items I have. It just looks so different under the car. Thanks for that info. I assume it would be best to install before dropping the body back on if possible.

Interesting, looking back on your thread just now I see this picture. Makes me wonder if the small end comes up to this point?

My insulation on the underside was shredded so If you have any showing the insulation still installed it may help our questions along.

Default Insulation

Hey Mike, I went out and removed the plastic shield to see if we could get a better look. To me it looks like angled part is close to the tunnel and the straight side is on the out side. So I think the piece you show is the drivers side. What do you think?

Hi mft,
The second picture you posted is the transmission 'blanket'.
It's an easy install since it just fits one way.
r's photos show the location for the other two pieces pretty well.
Regards,
Alan
