Default transmission

Yesterday I ran over a part of a tire off a truck. My vette is close to the ground and somehow the rubber hung on something and the car went into low gear and will not go into any other gear. Feels like the cable is broke. Any comments before I really mess it up? it is a 77 automatic. Where is the linkage located?

the shift cable attaches to the transmission on the drivers side of the car. Put the car up on jack stands and see if anything is bent/broken

Basically, put the shifter in park and the trans in park, with the trans end of the cable unhooked, adjust it till it aligns with the trans lever.

How do you adjust the cable. I didn't see any adjustment on it.

The trans lever is slotted where the cable attaches, you can loosen the nut to adjust it.
