Default Bloomington Gold question

Ok here's the deal. With Bloomington Gold coming to Indy, I am thinking about having our 76 judged. Our car appears to be all original with the exception of the rubber bumpers have been replaced at some point and repainted plus it appears that possibly the whole car has been repainted at some point.
Everything else appears to be stock with the exception of the carb, it now has an Edelbrock, but I can easily change it back to the original Quadrajet.
My question is should I enter it in the survivor class, or go with the certification judging? The instructions on their site seem pretty vague to me.
Anyone with any experience with their procedures?
Thanks for the help.

Opinions are like you-know-what, everybody has one. Me? for a rookie at BG, go survivor. You will learn more about your car than you could ever imagine and get the "hang" of how things work. Also, just hanging a q-jet on it is not enuff, they will check the numbers to make sure it's the right date...Survivor is not as easy as it might appear. Be sure a get a picture of you and your car cruising the most famous race track on earth, priceless!

The car would have to be at least 50% unrestored in the car's 3 major categories to get the lowest award (Bronze Survivor). Do you think it would?

As far as Certification, you will have some point losses in paint and body, and I suspect there's more than just what you have mentioned. I also believe there's a limited amount of entrants allowed per year class. Have you contacted them and asked them if the 1976s are closed yet? Its nearly May.

Have you been to Bloomington Gold in the past? If not, my suggeston would be to attend this year as a spectator and see how judging is conducted. You can come back next year as an entrant.

May want to look at NCRS Judging. Find a local meet and enter your car. Great way to find out what is needed. From my understanding it is also much cheaper that Bloomington Gold judging.

Excellent advice. Tom is right. Do a regional, or several, before you go to BG.

Hi bltn,
It sounds like you may have an interesting car.
I agree with Tom that you might want to check to see what the NCRS is all about.
Since they have judging events all year long and throughout the Country you may want to attend one.
Many of the BG judges are NCRS judges in their other life.
If you visit the NCRS site take a look at the Bowtie Award. This is the NCRS award that's similar to the Bloomington Survivor award.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Thanks everyone for your input. I think maybe it would be wise to to spectate this year and maybe try the NCRS route first. Yes my car is very interesting, to the point I am intrigued. I had new tires put on saturday, and while it was on the lift I totally inspected the bottom side. Totally spotless. BTW the take off tires had a 1993 build date.
