Default Have a look ....

Ok so every time I look at a similar year cars console 70 71 72 there are levers that I believe control the air intake vents at the floor, mine does not seem to this! What year console plate is this from?

Have a look and let me know please.

Dave

Hi Dave,
I believe you'll find that 70-72 cars with a/c didn't have the ***** and levers to open and close kick panel vents that non a/c cars have.
The shift console plate in your picture is from an a/c car.
Regards,
Alan

I believe that started in 69. My 68 does not have the engine data plate only the flag emblem.

Hi dg,
You don't have to call yourself a rookie anymore.
The 68 plate didn't have the 'data plate' that started for the 69 model year.

Alan

Hi John,
The indicators are part of the fiber optic system that 68-71 cars had.
They actually showed the light emanating from the headlights, parking lights, tail lights, and license light.
There was no electricity or bulbs involved… the light traveled through the the fiber optic cables.
It was a sci-fi sort of thing that was pretty nifty back then.
Regards,
Alan

Here's an example of the bezel and lenses for the forward lights.

68 Shifter plates have a beautiful small C-3 cross flags emblem. There are reproductions of it. They started the engine info in 1969, probably to satisfy the insurance companies that were cracking down on everyone in the 69-72 era.
I added the extra two rear tail light fiber optics to my 68. Lou.
