1968 Corvette restoration project
Attachment 47880494
Attachment 47880495My father had 3 corvettes throughout he life and i managed to find 2 of them.
I recently purchased his 1968 that he owned from 1969-1973.
(I found it disassembled in a garage not far from my house!)
Typically it is not cost effective to restore a 1968-1972 small block corvette as the resale values are just not there to recoupe the restoration costs.
That being said, I am a sucker for chrome bumper 68-72 vettes and I feel they are currently bargins which should rebound in time.
This car being my father's car was the perfect excuse to get into a C3 vette project, and like most projects will end up costing me double of what the car is worth.

It is a Lemans blue with blue interior, L79, 4 speed. Nice color, and nice powertrain. Will make for an enjoyable driver. So im happy with the car regardless of family history.
Car is being sent to tarpon springs florida for a restoration and will try to do it as correct as possible to keep the experience authentic.
If you see my truck hauling the vette down the eastern seaboard from canada this weekend give a wave

What is the name of the company in Tarpon Springs that is going to restore your car? I tried to look them up.. couldn't find them.
and "Classic Corvettes and Collectables" in tarpon springs florida.
It is was formally owned by collector Al Wiseman who since retired.
it is now www.classiccorvettesinc.com
They restored my 1963 corvette and this 1968 corvette.
They are currently restoring two 1969 Porsche 911s.
They know 1968-1972 corvette inside out. Especially after my car.

They can take your corvette down to the birdcage and build it back if need be. Not everybody is looking to go that far, but it is nice to know that they can if need be. Being my father's car i wanted to go the distance to save it.
Their painter eats and breathes paint and is great with fiberglass. And their metal guy is is very experienced and is used to making panels for cars that have no aftermarket panels available.
They dont cut corners and the end result is in the finish.
Preservation is the goal.

LeMans blue was not uncommon in 1968 from what i have seen.
I have seen many 68' leMans blue small block cars in my travels.
It is a really nice color and I am super happy that this car was a factory LeMans blue car!
