Default 69 Side Pipe protectors?

Has anyone seen or heard if anyone makes some kind of protector for the side pipes on my 69? Those things are so expensive I want to give them a little protection. Especially right behind the front tire where it throws rocks. Thanks for any help.

I have some thin clear plastic shields on my car that clip on to the inside of the fender lip. Can post pics later.

I bought them locally, not sure if they are still avail.

Thanks, Alan. For some reason those say 1970-77. I wonder why not a 69?

Hi,
I guess it's because the 68-69 fender doesn't have the lower flare that 70-72 has.
I'd think there'd be something similar for 68-69. Did you look through the list of configurations and applications?
Regards,
Alan

take a piece of paper and trace the fender wheel lip,
now draw how wide to make your Protectors /mud flaps.
cutout design make sure it fits the way you want, same design fits front and back.
now take the template to your local plastic store and make 8-10 of them from Lexan.
to attach use small binder clips, use 2 clips to clamp the protector to the fender lip.
once clamp is in place remove the clip handles leaving the small clips holding the rock protectors.
easy remove and no holes required in fenders. I been using these for years.
and these do work on 68-69 fenders, actually you can custom make for any vehicle.
you can just barely see the protectors in this photo, front and rear.:

Yes, I still haven't been able to find anything specifically for a 69. (that is other than the big black mud flaps with "Chevrolet" printed on them. I really just want something inconspicuous to protect the pipes. I guess I could try to make something out of lexan.

Ha, They look so good you don't see them !
I will get some close-ups this weekend, I attach them with the small office spring Binder Clips. after attached you remove the little silver handles.
Been doing this for years never lost one, and if you do slip on a new spare.
show time, slip them off.

found a picture:

use less than 1/8" you want them to be slightly bendable,
to follow the wheelwell curve when you clip them on.

I still have some transparent foil laying around. The plan is to put it on the chrom at the area behind the frontwheel .

Sorry for the delay. 6 month old baby and my wife is training for an ironman.

As you can see, they are dirty as they catch alot of road debris. If you drive over gravel, you can hear it hitting the plastic shields. They have the same shape as the inner fender and have a rubberized area where they make contact with the paint.

I have another friend that wants a set, I checked about 6 months ago and they were out of stock. I will try to stop in again and see if they were re ordered.

Gary

Thanks Gary, that really helped. I might try to order some lexan sheets and make them myself.
