Default Speedometer calibration?

A couple of years ago I sent my 82' 85 MPH speedo in to be re-calibrated to read 140. It is correct in every way (color wise) but it's 5 mph off. It never really bothered me but I was thinking the other day that could I pop the needle off and re position it to where it reads correctly? Will that work or is there more to it cause I'm thinking maybe the guy did not get the needle positioned right???

Default

You can change the speedometer gear in the trans. Easier than taking the gauge out.
